The MRI of my spinal cord showed that I do not have a syrinx, so that is great news!
I still have to meet with a doctor at Mayo for a second opinion on when/if surgery should be done. The neurologist here in CR has never had a Chiari patient before, so he wants someone more familiar with the condition to help him determine whether or not the headaches I was having are related to the condition and if so, what they mean for treatment.

Good news! I hope they find out what IS the problem for sure and get you back to feeling good!
Thanks, Alissa! In general, I feel fine. The headaches I was having (or still have occasionally) are very intense pressure headaches that only last about 10 seconds. But they are very strange and unlike a normal headache, which is why I went in.
I was worried one of them might end in an anyeursm or stroke or something. But I was reassured that was not the case. I just have a brain tail that causes some pressure up there!
Sara! great news! about the pressure headaches, I've experienced that before... but not frequently at all, maybe once a year or so, since I was in junior high. how often did you have yours?
Laura, I never had *any* pressure headaches until after Violet was born. I mean, I had a history of frequent headaches, but nothing out of the norm.
So it's possible that the strain of her birth could have set "it" (meaning the symptoms of Chiari) off.
From all that I've learned, it seems that Chiari is way under-diagnosed. So it might be more prevalent than people think.
ok thanks! yeah I very rarely get headaches, and the pressure ones are even more rare... something to keep tabs on! thanks! :)
